Published for the first time in 1914, the most trusted, fully opted in and comprehensive medical database in Australia has evolved and it is accessible online in the form of annual subscription plans.

About MDA Online

The Medical Directory of Australia (MDA) is the country's leading online medical database used to search and locate doctors and health facilities nationwide. Our team of researchers validates and updates every entry ensuring the quality of the listings.

With a clean, simple and modern user interface, MDA Online provides detailed search criteria, including name, discipline, medical interests, languages spoken, location, qualifications and more.

Supporting Browsers

MDA Online runs on all browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Opera. Internet Explorer is supported for version 11 and compatibility mode should be disabled.

Accessing MDA Online

If you are not subscribed to MDA Online, then a subscription process should be completed first by selecting a subscription plan here. For current subscribers, go to https://www.mdaonline.com.au/#login and use your login email and password. Login information is personal, please do not allow any other person to access or use the Subscription Service.

Forgot Password

In case you have forgotten your password, use the Forgot your password option and follow the instructions provided. Make sure the email address submitted is the same as your MDA Online login email. If you have any issues you can contact support@mda.com.au.

Issues accessing MDA Online

User has already signed in on other device

MDA Online logins are set up for individual use and can only work for a single session and user at a time. Trying to start a new session from another device when the previous session has not been signed out properly, will produce an error.

Make sure you click the “sign out” option when your session is finished. Just closing the browser will not sign out the user.

Alternatively, you can close and start a new session by following the instructions provided when the issue happens. The message displayed is the following:

“User is logged in on a different browser/device or your browser has locked your session after closing without logging out.
Enter your details to start a new session

Just enter your login details to force closing your previous session and open another.

Failed to Login

This message is displayed when login information is incorrect, it can be that your email login does not match your MDA Online user email, your password is not correct or a combination of both.

Reached the Maximum number of concurrent logins on your license

MDA Online offers multiple concurrent user plans. Depending on the plan, a subscription may allow up to 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 50, 75 and 100 concurrent users. When reaching the limit of concurrent users your plan allows, this message will display.

In this case, access will be possible if other active users log out from the system.

Default Time out

MDA Online times out after 2 hours of inactivity. This measure prevents unauthorised access to the system which not only comprises Search related screens but includes your accounts details and change password functionality.

Change Password during current session

It is advisable to change your password regularly. Select “Account” at the top right menu, click on “Change Password” and follow the prompts.

Personal Subscriptions

Personal Subscriptions suit individuals or organisations that require single access to MDA Online. To view prices related to Personal subscription plans go to https://www.mdaonline.com.au/information/how-to-subscribe

Network Subscriptions

Network Subscriptions suit organisations that require multiple concurrent users. Online payments are available for plans up to 100 users. Over than that, a subscription quote can be requested to MDA Online subscriptions

Special cases

There are special cases where members from an organisation manage their own subscription payments and fees differ from regular plans. Please contact MDA Online Support to get more information about your current plan details and renewal fees; quote your organisation and person within the organisation that has authorised your access. We get in contact with the organisation to validate your enquiry and generate a special code to be used in the renewal of your plan.

Using data from MDA Online

The Medical Directory of Australia listings can be accessed to check on Doctors’ and Medical facilities’ contact information or to search for a specific group of doctors that match the criteria entered. For instance, criteria available include first, last name, medical discipline, medical interests, languages spoken, location (suburb, street name, postcodes, state), qualifications and more.

Many medical practices and doctors in general use it to refer patients to specialists or locate other practices or medical facilities as part of their duty of care. Also to find new doctors to refer patients to, confirm doctor’s contact details, medical background and medical interests in multiple specialties even languages they speak.

The data from MDA Online shall not be used for sale, resale, loan, transfer, hire or any other form of commercial use.

The directory data cannot be used to compile a mailing list, send multiple copies of a communication, complete an electronic or physical Mail Merge or used for promotion, marketing or sales purposes.

Using MDA Online for searches

There are 2 sections provided which contain several fields to be applied on your search.

FIND PEOPLE – contains fields that are frequently used for Doctors search such as Name, disciplines, Fields of Practice, Qualifications, Languages Spoken, State, address related filters, role or position within the facility, etc.
FIND PLACES – contains fields such as type of Place and location related filters.

After your search criteria are entered, click on the SEARCH button at the bottom of the search fields (next to CLEAR).
Press CLEAR to clean your previous search criteria and start a new search. The SEARCH button at the top Menu is used for the same purpose.

Search for a particular Health Care Practitioner or group of specialists

To search for a specific doctor, in the FIND PEOPLE tab, enter the Surname and Name fields if known. Hyphens can be used, however it will suffice by placing the first part of a surname, the system will show all close matches.

In case you are looking for a group of practitioners that match certain characteristics, you can start selecting a Discipline/Field of Practice and Location fields such as State or Address.

Then select an Address type (either Principal Practice Address or Preferred Mailing address). Location related filters may be useful to refine your result. You can also apply additional fields.

To show more results, just remove the Address Type default filter, a larger listing is displayed and then the results can be narrowed down by applying extra filters such as:

Discipline
Medical Specialisation based on age, organ, diagnostic, technique e.g. Paediatrics, Cardiology and Infectious Diseases, etc.

Fields of Practice
More specialised area of medical practice e.g. Abdominal Surgery, Paediatric Nephrology, In-Vitro Fertilisation.

Qualifications and Language
Review the drop down lists available for both criteria.

Medical Interests
Doctors report on medical topics they have special interest in. Searches can be narrowed or expanded by using this filter.

Location related Filters

Address Type and Location

Select between a preferred practice address and/or principal practice address depending on the purpose of the search.

Select a location/s based on the address type selected previously, the following location fields can be applied to your search:
State
Metro (Y, N)
Street
Suburb
Postcode – Accepts individual postcodes separated by commas or spaces, postcode range i.e. 2000-2004; list of postcodes from Excel.
Radius Search - This field works if an Area (which can be a suburb or postcode) and a value in Distance in Kms are placed. The centre point of a suburb is defined by Google Maps which may not coincide with an Australian Post Office location.
Note: No need to select any or all of the location fields cited above. This depends on how selective you would like your search to be.

Gender and Employed as
To tailor your list even more, these fields can be applied where doctors with specific genders and roles need to be identified.

Search for Places

Select the Find Places tab, next to Find People.

The following fields are available:

Type of Place
Choose between Healthcare facility, Medical Practice, Dental Practice, Pharmacy, Diagnostic Services, Physiotherapy clinics, Podiatrist Clinics and Other types.

Sub-Type
Narrow your search based on previously selected Place Type

Address Type
Select between a preferred practice address and/or principal practice address depending on the type of campaign the list will be used for.

Place Name
Input the Place name to search

Select a location/s based on the address type selected previously, the following location fields can be applied to your search:

Street
Suburb
State
Postcode – Accepts individual postcodes separated by commas or spaces, postcode range i.e. 2000-2004; list of postcodes from Excel.
Metro (Y, N)

Radius Search - This field works if an Area (which can be a suburb or postcode) and a value in Distance in Kms are placed. The centre point of a suburb is defined by Google Maps which may not coincide with an Australian Post Office location.

In order to enquire about a list of HCPs for communication purposes, please contact AMPCo detailing your phone, email and search criteria or click on the option ENQUIRY LIST (bottom of the search fields). A staff member will be able to provide you with further information.
